Yiddish

Intermediate

Course description

Intermediate with Tamara (Online)
Tuesdays 5:15 - 7:15pm

This class is divided into music, grammar and literature/culture. We listen to and discuss Yiddish songs connected to the seasons, Jewish festivals, political movements and simply fun expressions of Ashkenazi culture. Our grammar lessons come from Colloquial Yiddish by Lily Kahn. In the literature section, we will focus on poetry by Anna Margolin, Celia Drapkin and Kadia Molodovsky.

This class is a continuation of last term’s Intermediate class, but new students are more than welcome. New students should be able to read in Yiddish, hold conversations in Yiddish and understand simple literary texts, and should feel comfortable participating in a class which is taught almost entirely in Yiddish.

If you are uncertain if this level is appropriate for you, please email babelsblessing@gmail.com to speak further.
