Evening classes operate a sliding scale fee policy – you choose what you can afford. Depending on your financial situation each 2-hour class will cost you:

£10 – Student (total course cost £200 – £240)

£15 – Standard (total course cost £300 – £360)

£20 – Supporter (total course cost £400 – £480)

All profits from these fees go towards running our free English classes for refugees and migrants – so the more you pay, the more people we can support and teach!

There will also be ONE place in each group reserved for a person who can only afford £5 per class, they will be asked to do around 30 mins-1 hour per week volunteering for Babel’s (eg. arriving early to help the teacher set up, photocopying worksheets, promoting us on social media). This place cannot be booked via the website/booking app, please email us.

Babel’s are crowdfunding, help us grow!

Our programme of paid evening classes raises approximately 60% of the money we need to run Babel’s. In order to keep our English classes completely free for our refugee and migrant students, we need to fundraise in other ways as well.

There’s a huge demand for free English lessons in London and we are hoping to do our bit by expanding our ESOL provision in September.

We’ve just launched a new crowdfunding campaign, which you can check out here:

https://chuffed.org/project/free-english-lessons-for-migrants-and-refugees

crowdfunder2.4

You can also check out our Donate page for other options including setting up a monthly donation!

Welcome to new friends and supporters!

Apparently some of our comrades are famous now?

Thanks for checking out our website! We don’t currently have any language classes running, except our free ESOL groups. Other classes will start again in September – we’re hoping to run Arabic, Bengali and Latin American Spanish again; bring back either Yiddish or Hebrew; and start teaching some new ones (Kurdish? Swahili? Let us know what you want to learn!)

We’re also putting together plans for some workshops, film screenings and social events in May, June & July. Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more info as it happens.

If you’d like to support our work and help us keep running free, regular, accessible and fun English classes for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, you can also chuck a few quid in the virtual cashbox here.

With love, solidarity, thanks & beetroots,

Babels
