Latin American Spanish Beginners A1/A2

Beginners A1/A2 (Face-to-face)

Tuesdays 6:00 - 8:00pm
At House of Annetta, Shoreditch, London

Learning a new language opens the door to new worlds, and this beginner’s course in Latin American Spanish is designed to take you on a journey of discovery.

How many continents can you name in your native language? Is Latin America one of them? What images and cultural references come to mind when you think of it? Frida, empanadas, revolución, salsa, football; mojitos and ..?

As we dive into Spanish, exploring questions, verbs, and gender rules (and how to break them), we’ll also map out the rich histories and cultures of Latin America through the literature of the region, with readings from short stories and comic books that offer a glimpse into its diverse voices.

We’ll tune into the rhythms of popular music to learn about the political and social landscape, from protest songs like Victor Jara's protest ballads to the latest in hip hop like by Calle 13, Ana Tijoux, and yes, some reggaeton and trap (!) by Bad Bunny.

Throughout the course, we’ll create a collection of postcards that capture the cultural, grammatical, and emotional landscapes we explore together.
